Healthcare Sector Has Not Fully Exploited Data Analytics Potential | Drugdu.com

India-based Omega Healthcare has categorically stated that the growth of data analytics and cloud intelligence firms in the Indian healthcare sector has little scope. The company plans to hire around 1,200 - 1,500 people for exploring emerging markets like the United Arab Emirates.
Indian healthcare providers have not picked up the pace in the empowering technology sectors at a time when retail, manufacturing, and banking industries have adapted to cloud-based systems and used data analytics for improving processes.
Omega Healthcare has stated that the absence of a government mandate on health insurance is a major growth impediment for the sector even as the company has extended its data and revenue management services to Health Insurance Company, hospitals, and healthcare providers.
A statement issued by the company points to the fact that though there has been a substantial improvement in healthcare delivery services in the country, there is a lack of effort in the tracking and collection of patient care data by hospitals and healthcare providers which is held in paper files. The data remains majorly restricted and cannot be broadly used for extended research and development and betterment of healthcare.
A healthcare organization driven by data competencies can work in areas such as research and development, public health, clinical operations, evidence-based medicine and genome study
